TASK
Answer three of the four questions below on volume 1 of Jane Eyre.
You should
write between 1500 – 2000 words in your answer excluding quotations.
You should
expect to write approximately 600 words for each answer.
1 Comment on the presentation of
Jane in the first volume of the novel.
In your
response you should consider her presentation at Gateshead, Lowood and
Thornfield Hall up to and including chapter 15.
2 Comment on the presentation of
adults throughout the first volume of the novel.
In your
answer you should exclude any reference to Rochester in your answer.
3 Comment on the presentation of
children in the first volume of the novel.
In your
answer you should focus on John Reed, Helen Burns and Adele. But you should
refer also to children in general.
4 Comment on the presentation of
Rochester in the first volume of the novel.
In your
answer you should refer to the setting of Thornfield Hall before Rochester’s
appearance, his meeting with Jane on the road to Hay and the three important
meetings that take place at Thornfield Hall in chapter 13, 14 and 15.
