AS LL - SPIES LOCATIONS SYMBOLS

AS ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
ELLA 1 INTEGRATED ANALYSIS AND TEXT PRODUCTION
SPIES – SYMBOLIC LOCATIONS

Locations in Spies are very important to a full understanding of the novel. One way we have approached this is to draw and add to the map of the area.

Here is another way of engaging with the main locations of the novel.

Similar to A Streetcar Named Desire the two main locations in Spies have a symbolic meaning. One main location is The Close and the surrounding suburb and the second main location is the tunnel, railway line, track, the lanes and the cottages.

As we study Spies you should consider the different concepts or ideas represented by these two general locations. The two locations contrast to each other.

Draw up a list of contrasting ideas and concepts that represent each location. And find short quotations that help support these ideas.

You should add and develop to the table below as we continue our study.
