This perhaps helps us get some idea of the world that some of the stories from Tales from Ovid come from especially the poem Acteon. The hunting technique shown here is thought to be the oldest hunting technique used by humans. It's called Persistence Hunting. Probably used before humans had weapons. The prey was hunted and chased until it diead of exhaustion.
