IB ENGLISH YR 2 - PAPER 2

Things you need to do now:

  • Read, re read and annotate the three plays according to plot and structure, key themes or ideas explored, main and minor characters, the relationships between characters, dramatic dialogue and dramatic techniques / stagecraft.

  • Give titles or sub titles - brief summary of each act and scene. In the cast of Waiting for Godot, identify shifts in the narrative and give these different sections a title.

  • As you read and annotate the plays you should identify important quotations that link directly to the above list. Quotations should be drawn from dialogue as well as stage directions - these form part of the text as well.

  • For each quotation - make a note of language or dramatic features [ not necessary for the stage directions.] include a note on the effect of the quotation / language features on the audience.

  • Read and annotate carefully the handouts given out in class. Use these handouts as a way of supporting your reading of the three plays.
